We drove from DF --> Patzcuaro --> coast of Michoacan --> Manzanillo, Colima --> Guadalajara --> DF in June (that's what, 7 states?) and encountered only one checkpoint, and were waved through. It's a bit disturbing that there were so few in Michoacan, considering. Interesting.
